Sunny C Horses came to life 6 years ago when Catlin and Monique married. Both of their families have been raising horses for over 40 years, and they started with a combination of the two programs. The Bentz program brings a lot of bone, good feet, and an all-around disposition you would want in a ranch horse. Catlin’s side of things brings the athleticism, quick feet, and cow sense that bring these horses to the next level and good candidates for the arena as well as the ranch.

They raise and use their horses in the rugged terrain of the rocky foothills of Blue Mountain Range in Eastern Oregon. The babies start learning as soon as they hit the ground where to put their feet and how to travel. The two-year-olds get 10-15 rides put on them and then turned out again for about a year till they are mature enough to handle smaller ranch jobs. Catlin is a true horseman who can make a confident horse while getting his work done. Monique adds her knowledge of reined-cow horse maneuvers to their training regimen—and well-rounded horses are made. Sunny C produces all levels of horses for the market, from yearlings to finished bridle horses.

Their broodmares and stallions have all proven themselves on the ranch, and many of them have been taken to local reined cow horse events and ranch rodeos. The Sunny C program strives for horses with proven bloodlines that can withstand the rigors of ranching and can also be taken to town to be competitive. They continue to try new and outside bloodlines to further their breeding program, always looking for that “perfect horse”.
